DD Mail

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. As you may gather from my photo I am a keen promoter of breastfeeding - I'll talk more about this at some point I'm sure. Although I believe that it's the most natural way to feed your baby, breastfeeding isn't always easy and certainly wasn't for me in the early days.  Happily with lots of determination and some really valuable support from my chap, friends and professionals alike, Henry and I were able to get through the difficult early days of tongue tie, sore nipples, slow milk supply and sleep deprivation. This show of support at a much needed time had a profound effect on me and made me want to offer the same support to other mums who might need it. With this in mind I've recently completed training to become a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter at my local Sure Start Centre, which basically involves attending the BF support group and being available to listen and offer information and support to people who want or need it. Sometimes it can be helpful to demonstrate how to achieve a good latch, but not everyone is always comfortable with eager strangers getting up close and personal. With this in mind, I commissioned my cousin MJ (crafter extroadinaire) to crochet a fabulous prop for me to use. I was more than thrilled when a (slightly squashed) mammary masterpiece arrived through my letterbox this morning (ouch)! I can't wait to show the girls my boob next week!
